The Opportunity Join our design team as we transform wealth management technology through thoughtful, user-centered design. As an Associate Designer, you'll be part of a growing design organization dedicated to turning complexity into clarity and delivering products that are both sophisticated and human. We operate in the wealth management space—an industry with deeply complex workflows that desperately needs great design. You'll have the opportunity to learn from experienced designers while contributing to products that make a real difference in the lives of financial advisors and their clients. Working closely with our Head of Design and senior design team members, you'll contribute to creating seamless, elegant, and intuitive experiences across our ecosystem of advisor and client-facing tools. We can consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our Charlotte, NC office. Key Responsibilities Design Execution & Learning: Create high-quality visual designs, wireframes, and prototypes under guidance from senior designers Contribute to user interface design for web and mobile applications Learn and apply design system components and patterns consistently across projects Participate in design critiques and incorporate feedback to improve design quality Support the creation and maintenance of design documentation and specifications User-Centered Design: Participate in user research activities and usability testing sessions Learn to translate user insights and feedback into design improvements Develop understanding of financial advisor workflows and user needs Contribute to persona development and user journey mapping Observe and learn from user interviews and research sessions Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers to understand requirements and constraints Collaborate with engineers to ensure design feasibility and quality implementation Participate in sprint planning, standups, and other agile ceremonies Communicate design decisions clearly to stakeholders Learn to advocate for user needs in product discussions Design System & Consistency: Learn and apply the AssetMark design system across all design work Contribute to design system documentation and component library Ensure consistency in visual design and interaction patterns Help identify opportunities for new design system components Maintain design files and assets in organized, accessible formats Professional Development: Actively seek feedback and mentorship from senior team members Stay current with design trends, tools, and best practices Participate in design team learning sessions and skill-building activities Contribute to team discussions about design process and methodology Build expertise in financial services and wealth management domain What We're Looking For Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, Psychology, or related field 0-2 years of professional design experience (internships and relevant coursework count) Strong portfolio demonstrating design thinking and visual design skills Fresh graduates with exceptional portfolios are welcome Technical Skills: Proficiency in modern design tools, particularly Figma Understanding of design fundamentals: typography, color, layout, and visual hierarchy Basic knowledge of user experience principles and design thinking methodology Familiarity with prototyping tools and interactive design concepts Understanding of web and mobile design best practices Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS (preferred but not required) Design Capabilities: Strong visual design skills with attention to detail Ability to create clean, intuitive user interfaces Understanding of responsive design principles Basic wireframing and prototyping abilities Eagerness to learn complex workflow design and data visualization Soft Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills Collaborative mindset with ability to work in cross-functional teams Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking Openness to feedback and continuous learning Curiosity about user behavior and business goals Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines Bonus Qualifications: Interest in or knowledge of financial services industry Experience with design systems or component libraries Understanding of accessibility principles and inclusive design Experience with user research methods or usability testing Knowledge of motion design or micro-interactions Why Join AssetMark? Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $82,000-$92,000. This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US to be considered. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
