Director of Food and Beverage

Client: Confidential – High-End Hospitality Group | Location: New York City

A premier hospitality group is seeking an experienced Director of Food and Beverage to oversee all front- and back-of-house operations across its restaurant, lounge, private event spaces, and in-room dining services. This individual will be responsible for maintaining exceptional service standards, leading high-performing teams, managing financials, and elevating the overall guest experience. The ideal candidate brings a fine dining background, strong leadership capabilities, and hands-on operational expertise.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead all F&B operations including service, kitchen, private dining, in-room dining, and events
  • Ensure top-tier guest service, regularly engaging with patrons to maintain high satisfaction
  • Drive restaurant bookings and manage ambiance (lighting, music, décor) in line with brand standards
  • Train and evaluate managers and staff; create and manage SOPs and training programs
  • Manage financial performance—budgets, cost controls, payroll, labor, and revenue tracking
  • Oversee menu accuracy, staff product knowledge, and timely updates to specials
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and compliance with sanitation and health regulations
  • Handle procurement and inventory of small wares, china, linens, beverages, etc.
  • Direct the beverage and wine program with an emphasis on cost control and profitability
  • Lead weekly team meetings and participate in daily operations and pre-shift huddles
  • Collaborate on marketing initiatives and execute PR/event-related opportunities
  • Personally resolve guest complaints and ensure a culture of accountability and teamwork

Qualifications:

  • 4–5 years of front-of-house management experience in high-volume fine dining
  • Hotel and luxury hospitality experience strongly preferred
  • Proven experience managing budgets, labor, and operating costs
  • Familiarity with FOH systems: Infogenisis, Avero, Harri, Schedulefly, Birchstreet, OpenTable/Resy
  • Strong HR knowledge including hiring practices, training, labor law compliance
  • Tech-savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Independent, strategic thinker with strong leadership and communication skills
  • Flexible and available to work evenings, holidays, weekends, and long shifts
