Job Description

About the Role

We’re looking for a Principal Product Designer who obsesses over every detail, thrives on solving challenging user problems, and is passionate about crafting beautiful and intuitive interfaces. This role is laser-focused on hands-on design and shaping experiences that millions of people will engage with.

You’ll be designing across our entire platform - from the core experience already reaching millions, to innovative AI-driven features reshaping how users engage with Insight Timer. Working closely with our Head of Design and Senior Product Managers, you’ll tackle meaningful design challenges that positively impact the well-being of our community every day.

The first stage will be a portfolio review, so please ensure yours is clearly linked in your CV and includes several consumer mobile app case studies.

About Insight Timer

Imagine a platform which could amplify something as simple as your attendance into deep transformational shifts for humanity. A place where showing up was enough. Where each individual visit combined with millions more to trigger huge waves of health and happiness around the world. What would such a platform look like? Could you even build it? And more importantly, how would you protect it from becoming another Instagram, TikTok or Twitter which magnify the very worst of us.

If we can answer these questions, we believe Insight Timer’s community will emerge as one of the most important companies of the 21st century. A place - not a product - which is capable of reversing the modern day health pandemic by harmonising the human spirit before problems arise. And if we get there... well, the opportunities are endless. Imagine a modern-day renaissance where health, belonging and purpose become the new definitions of happiness for hundreds of millions of people around the world, including you.

And all you need to do…is show up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Design : Design beautiful and intuitive mobile interfaces for our core experience, AI-powered features, and teacher marketplace platform.
  • AI Product Innovation : Help ideate and design breakthrough AI features that make wellbeing more accessible and personalised for millions of users worldwide.
  • Testing & Iteration : Support our continuous testing culture by designing variants and rapidly iterating on successful concepts.
  • Collaborative Design : Work hand-in-hand with our Head of Design and Senior Product Managers to translate requirements into compelling user experiences, and with engineers to ensure pixel-perfect implementation.
  • User-Centred Problem Solving : Tackle complex UX challenges across all areas of the app while maintaining the simplicity that makes our platform accessible to everyone.
  • Rapid Prototyping : Create prototypes in Figma to communicate design concepts and validate user flows.

About You

  • Mobile Design : 5+ years designing consumer mobile apps with a track record of creating world-class features with strong user engagement.
  • UI/UX : Exceptional skills in visual design and user experience, with the ability to make complex features feel intuitive and straightforward.
  • Collaborative Spirit : Excellent communication skills and experience working closely with product managers and engineers in fast-paced environments.
  • Design Process : Strong foundation in user-centred design principles, with experience in wireframing, user flows, and iterative design processes.
  • Agility: Thrive in fast-paced environments where priorities shift and resources are limited.
  • Portfolio : Compelling mobile case studies demonstrating your end-to-end design process, problem-solving approach, and impact on user metrics.

Benefits

  • We offer competitive salaries and options.
  • The role is fully remote but must be based on the US West Coast (you must also be able to travel to Sydney multiple times per year).
  • Extra leave days are available for your well-being and birthday.
  • A generous L&D budget & wellbeing bonus.
  • We host a global company retreat each year.

We dial in from all over the world, and it's important that our team is just as diverse as our community of users, customers and teachers. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, or marital, veteran, or disability status.

Even if you don't think you quite meet all of the skills listed or tick all the boxes, we'd still love to hear from you.
