Position Summary:

We're seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Buyer to support procurement operations within a complex distribution model. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in data analysis, ERP system management, and advanced Excel skills. This person will play a key role in maintaining inventory levels, optimizing supply chain processes, and supporting vendor relationships through data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage purchasing activities across assigned product categories, ensuring optimal inventory levels to support demand forecasts.
  2. Analyze large sets of data to inform purchasing decisions, vendor negotiations, and inventory planning.
  3. Maintain and update ERP system data, including pricing, lead times, order points, and vendor information.
  4. Generate and manage purchase orders, resolve discrepancies, and ensure on-time delivery.
  5. Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, customer service, warehouse, and finance teams to support operational goals.
  6. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to support cost savings, reliability, and quality.
  7. Assist in implementing procurement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
  8. Identify and address supply chain risks or inefficiencies using analytics and trend analysis.

Qualifications:

  1. 3–5 years of experience in a Buyer, Purchasing Analyst, or related procurement role, preferably in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
  2. Strong experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Epicor, Infor, or similar).
  3. Advanced Excel skills required – pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Power Query, data modeling.
  4. Strong analytical mindset with the ability to turn data into actionable insights.
  5. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  6. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Nice to Have:

  1. Experience in the industrial packaging or distribution industry.
  2. Familiarity with inventory planning tools and KPIs (turns, service level, safety stock, etc.).
  3. Exposure to Power BI or other data visualization tools.
