RTO: 3 or 4 days/week

JW Michaels is engaged with a leading healthcare technology company operating in the retail pharmacy and prescription management space. Client's organization facilitates secure healthcare transactions and pharmaceutical services across multiple jurisdictions, helping healthcare providers and consumers connect through innovative technology solutions.

Client specializes in regulated prescription management solutions that enable the delivery of pharmaceutical services and healthcare connectivity. Client provides advanced technology applications that address regulatory compliance requirements, risk management, FDA oversight, and prescription processing needs for their diverse client base of healthcare institutions and retail pharmacy platforms.

We're seeking a lawyer to join our client's healthcare legal team and drive the regulatory compliance program for their prescription management and healthcare service portfolio. The ideal candidate is a seasoned healthcare attorney with demonstrated expertise in pharmacy regulation and a compliance champion with deep experience in building and supporting healthcare compliance management programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute healthcare regulatory strategy, including regulatory agency engagement and advocacy efforts
  • Serve as a liaison to business and functional departments in connection with regulatory engagements including examinations, meetings and other interactions with healthcare regulators
  • Manage external counsel as necessary, and review/analyze regulatory advice for advancing strategic healthcare initiatives
  • Provide regulatory advice to business stakeholders on healthcare product development and pharmaceutical operational matters
  • Drive the design and implementation of healthcare compliance management policies and controls
  • Provide periodic reports to senior management on emerging healthcare regulatory obligations
  • Coordinate regulatory examinations and management responses with FDA and state pharmacy boards
  • Identify and manage healthcare regulatory changes, assisting product owners to develop creative compliance solutions
  • Maintain strong industry knowledge of healthcare regulations, pharmacy law changes, trends and impacts to the business
  • Draft and negotiate technology, pharmacy, and healthcare contracts including SaaS agreements and pharmaceutical vendor agreements
  • Partner with pharmacists, healthcare professionals, and compliance teams on prescription platform development

REQUIRED Candidate Criteria (Candidate profile must be a MATCH)

  • Between 8-12 years of experience post law school
  • Experience working with healthcare professionals and pharmacy teams
  • Experience managing healthcare regulatory supervision and compliance programs
  • Experience in retail pharmacy operations and developing/managing related regulatory compliance programs for large healthcare or technology companies
  • Proven success navigating healthcare technology organizations and operating effectively within diverse professional teams
  • Self-starter/motivated to work independently and as an effective team member
  • Proactive, time-sensitive, results-driven approach in fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Strong analytical capabilities and excellent written/oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of FDA Drug and Device regulations and pharmacy licensing requirements
  • Experience in healthcare law, particularly e-commerce or virtual healthcare environments
  • Current or prior IN-HOUSE experience is a MUST
  • Bar admission in US state with ability to obtain Florida or Washington State in-house counsel license
  • Ability to accommodate East Coast time zones and occasional travel
