ABOUT THE ROLE
Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Transfer Machine Operator to support the operations at the Asphalt plant location in Clinton, MD. This position will be responsible for Operating the transfer machine according to safety procedures and guidelines, ensuring the machine is in good working order and equipped with the necessary safety devices.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Operate Asphalt Transfer Machine Safely and Efficiently
  • \n
  • Control the material transfer vehicle to continuously feed asphalt from trucks to the paver without stopping paving operations.
  • \n
  • Ensure consistent asphalt delivery to prevent segregation, maintain mat quality, and avoid cold joints.
  • \n
  • Check asphalt mix temperature and quality during transfer to ensure it meets project specifications.
  • \n
  • Communicate with dump truck drivers and paver operators to synchronize timing and material supply.
  • \n
  • Inspect the transfer machine before and after shifts; clean, grease, and report any mechanical issues.
  • \n
  • Adhere to traffic control plans, wear PPE, and operate equipment with awareness of ground crew and surrounding hazards.

Required Work Experience: Minimum 2 years' experience

  • Prior hands-on experience with material transfer vehicles (e.g., Shuttle Buggy) in asphalt paving operations.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of Asphalt Mix Handling
  • \n
  • Understanding of how to maintain proper temperature, prevent segregation, and ensure consistent material flow.
  • \n
  • Strong Coordination and Communication Skills
  • \n
  • Ability to work closely with truck drivers, paver operators, and ground crew to keep operations smooth and efficient.
  • \n
  • Mechanical Awareness: Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize downtime and ensure reliability.
  • \n
  • Proven track record of following safety procedures and maintaining awareness of surroundings, especially in active job sites.
  • \n
  • Reliable attendance, willingness to work in varying weather conditions, and commitment to project timelines.
  • \n

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
