AI 2030, the global member-based initiative dedicated to advancing responsible AI by 2030, today announced the appointment of David Lara as Executive Director. Lara will lead the organization’s strategy, operations, and global growth as AI 2030 expands its work across government, industry, academia, and civil society.
“We are thrilled to welcome David to the AI 2030 team,” said Xiaochen Zhang, CEO of AI 2030. “David has built AI companies as a founder and led government at the highest levels. That’s the rare combination AI 2030 needs to turn responsible AI principles into real-world impact at global scale.”
Lara brings more than 15 years of executive leadership experience spanning government, technology, and entrepreneurship. He is Co-Founder and CEO of SuperCity, an AI-powered civic engagement and payments platform, and Co-Founder of AuraVision, an enterprise AI company. He also serves on the boards of SuperForce AI, which prepares college students and veterans for AI careers, and Public Health Solutions, New York City’s largest public health nonprofit.
Before launching technology companies, Lara held senior leadership positions in state and local government, including Chief Administrative Officer at New York City Hall and Deputy Budget Director for the State of New York, where he helped oversee one of the nation’s largest state budgets. His career has focused on applying technology, operations, finance, and strategic partnerships to improve public sector performance.
As Executive Director, Lara will oversee AI 2030’s strategic initiatives, expand partnerships, support the organization’s global membership network, and serve as a leading voice for the responsible development and adoption of AI.
